# Is Motion Invest legit for buyers of small content sites?

Short answer: Motion Invest is a real marketplace focused on small content sites and YouTube channels: it vets listings, holds the buyer's money until transfer and helps move the site. Its own Help Center says it gives no guarantee and no refund once a site is transferred, so treat its vetting as a first filter and verify traffic and earnings yourself.

## What is Motion Invest, and is it a real marketplace?

Motion Invest is a real, operating marketplace for small content websites and, more recently, YouTube channels. Its "Buy profitable digital assets" page (read 15 October 2026) says every listing includes verified financial and traffic data, that you create a free account to view listings, and that the team helps with transfer, including swapping up to 20 affiliate links on a website. That is a different model from an open marketplace where anyone can list: Motion Invest chooses what it publishes.

## How does buying on Motion Invest work, and where is your money?

According to the same page, you click "Buy Now" on a listing and either pay in full if the price is under $2,000 or pay a non-refundable $1,000 deposit if it is above. Motion Invest emails the asset purchase agreement within 24 hours, you pay any balance, it holds the money until the transfer is done, and then releases funds to the seller. Two consequences follow:

- Do your checks before "Buy Now", not after. Once the deposit is paid it is not coming back if you change your mind.

- The money is held by the marketplace, not a third-party escrow agent. That is common for brokers, but it is a different arrangement from Escrow.com on Flippa. Read the agreement for what happens if a transfer fails.

## What does Motion Invest's vetting not cover?

Motion Invest's own Help Center answer "Do you have any guarantee?" (read 15 October 2026) is plain: its due diligence may miss things, it suggests buyers do their own checks, it gives no guarantees, and once a site is bought and transferred there is no refund. In practice that means the vetting confirms the figures it was shown at the time, not that the traffic will last. The checks that are still yours:

- Search Console clicks for 16 to 24 months, set against Google's update dates (how to overlay them (https://firstpassmemo.com/answers/how-to-tell-if-a-content-site-was-hit-by-a-google-update/)).

- Earnings in each affiliate and ad dashboard, matched to deposits (how to verify affiliate income (https://firstpassmemo.com/answers/how-to-verify-affiliate-income-before-buying-a-website/)).

- Domain history and backlinks (four checks (https://firstpassmemo.com/answers/how-to-check-a-domains-history-before-buying-a-website/)).

- Which averaging window the listing uses: a 3-month average after a good quarter can read very differently from 12 months.

## What does a typical small Motion Invest-style listing look like through the checker?

We ran a composite listing of the kind sold on small content-site marketplaces through our free checker: an outdoor gear affiliate site asking $9,500 on $390 a month of profit. The asking price looks reasonable at 24.4 months of payback, but the flags show where the risk sits: nearly all traffic is Google, nearly all income depends on Amazon, and a margin near 93% means almost no costs are being paid, so any writer you hire comes out of your return.

Composite example, not a real listing

Outdoor gear content site, Amazon Associates and display ads Asking price: $9,500 Average monthly revenue: $420 Average monthly profit: $390 Business age: 2 years Owner hours: 2 hours per week

Traffic sources typed in: Organic search 92%, Direct 6%, Social 2%.

What the red-flag checker (https://firstpassmemo.com/checker/) returns: a payback of 24.4 months (2.03× annual profit) on average monthly profit, and these flags:

Medium Depends on Amazon

The listing relies on a platform the buyer does not control. A policy, fee, algorithm or account change there can cut revenue quickly.

Ask: Has the Amazon account ever had a suspension, listing removal or policy warning, and what share of revenue would stop if it did?

How this rule works (https://firstpassmemo.com/flags/depends-on-a-platform/)

Medium Organic search is about 92% of traffic

Search traffic can fall sharply after a Google update, and a new owner cannot control that.

Ask: Can you share 16 months of Search Console clicks and impressions, and any drops around Google updates?

How this rule works (https://firstpassmemo.com/flags/organic-search-over-half-of-traffic/)

Medium Very high margin (93%)

Margins this high usually leave out the owner's time, contractors, tools or payment fees.

Ask: Can you list every recurring cost, and what it would cost to replace your own time?

How this rule works (https://firstpassmemo.com/flags/very-high-margin/)

Medium No connected data source mentioned

The figures appear to be typed in by the seller. Nothing in the text says revenue or traffic is connected from Stripe, PayPal, analytics or a marketplace check.

Ask: Can you give read-only access to the payment processor and analytics, or exports that match the P&L?

How this rule works (https://firstpassmemo.com/flags/no-connected-data-source/)

Low Concentration not disclosed

The listing does not say how much revenue comes from the largest customer, affiliate program or traffic partner.

Ask: What share of revenue comes from the top 1 and top 3 customers or partners?

How this rule works (https://firstpassmemo.com/flags/concentration-not-disclosed/)

Flippa's H1 2026 report says content-site sales fell 39% half on half and that sold content businesses were older on average, which fits a market where buyers have become wary of young, search-dependent sites. A site like the example can still be a good small purchase, but price it on what it earns after a traffic fall, not on its best year.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the Motion Invest deposit refundable?

No. Motion Invest's buying page says listings over $2,000 need a non-refundable $1,000 deposit when you click Buy Now, so finish your own checks before you pay it.

### Does Motion Invest guarantee a site's traffic or earnings?

No. Its Help Center says it does not provide guarantees, recommends buyers do their own due diligence, and takes no responsibility and gives no refund once a site is bought and transferred.

### Is Motion Invest or Flippa better for a first small site?

Motion Invest publishes only listings it has vetted, which removes the worst of what appears on open marketplaces; Flippa has far more listings and uses Escrow.com, but most listings under $50,000 are not vetted by Flippa. Either way, verify traffic and earnings yourself.
