# FirstPass listing check for AI assistants (free MCP server and JSON API)

Short answer: connect ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to https://firstpassmemo.com/mcp and ask it to check a business-for-sale listing. It runs the same 33 published rules as our browser checker (https://firstpassmemo.com/checker/) and returns payback, the asking multiple against comparable listings, every flag that fired and questions to ask the seller. Free, no key, no account.

## Connect it

- Endpoint (Streamable HTTP, no auth): https://firstpassmemo.com/mcp

- Claude (web or desktop): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the endpoint.

- ChatGPT: in developer mode, add a connector with the endpoint URL and no authentication.

## Tools

- check_listing: inputs listing_text (the text you paste, up to 20,000 characters) and optional numbers asking_price, monthly_profit, monthly_revenue, age_months, category, traffic_sources. Returns payback in months, the annual multiple, the benchmark range for the category, each flag (severity, why it matters, link to the rule page) and the seller questions.

- list_rules: the 33 rules, the same as rules.json (https://firstpassmemo.com/rules.json).

Example prompt: "Here's a Flippa listing I'm looking at. Check it with FirstPass and tell me what to ask the seller." Then paste the listing text. The tool does not open links, so paste the text itself.

## Plain JSON API

For scripts and custom GPT actions, send a POST to https://firstpassmemo.com/api/check with the same fields as JSON:

## Privacy and limits

- Text sent to /mcp or /api/check is processed in memory to compute the result and then discarded. It is not stored or logged, and we can't see who sent it.

- Screening only. The rules read what the seller published. They verify nothing and are not investment, legal, tax or valuation advice.

- Benchmarks: Empire Flippers public Marketplace API asking multiples, built 6 October 2026. Some categories have small samples, and the result says so.
