Red flag explained · Traffic and platforms
Claims search-driven growth, but organic search is small
Short answer: If the listing credits SEO or organic search for its growth but its own figures show less than 20% of traffic from search, the claim and the data disagree. Customers are coming from somewhere else, possibly the founder's network or paid ads. Ask which channel actually brings paying customers.
When the checker raises it
Raised as high severity when the listing text credits search, SEO or organic acquisition and the traffic split shows organic search under 20%.
Why it matters
Growth that really comes from search tends to survive a change of owner. Growth that comes from the founder's posts, communities or personal network often does not.
The mismatch is sometimes innocent, such as an old description. It still means the listing's account of where customers come from cannot be relied on.
