Red flag explained · Trend

Revenue concentrated in a recent spike

Short answer: When last month's revenue is more than twice the monthly average, much of the business's value sits in one recent month. That can be real growth, or a launch, a viral post or a short-lived ranking that will not repeat. Ask for every month since launch and what drove the latest one.

When the checker raises it

Raised as medium severity when last month's revenue is more than twice the average monthly revenue (trailing 12-month revenue divided by 12, or the stated monthly average). In teardowns built from a full monthly series, it also fires when the last 3 months hold more than half of the revenue in a series of 6 months or more.

Why it matters

A price built on a spike month prices the best case. If the spike fades, payback stretches out fast.

Young sites are the most likely to show this pattern, because one post, one ranking or one deal can be most of their history.
