Red flag explained · Traffic and platforms

One affiliate program or ad network on a site under a year old

Short answer: When a site under a year old earns everything from one affiliate program or one ad network, a single commission cut, policy change or closed account stops the revenue, and the site has not had time to show it can survive that. Ask for the payout history and any warnings from the network.

When the checker raises it

Raised as medium severity when the business is under 12 months old and the only income the listing names is one affiliate program or one ad network (for example Amazon Associates, AdSense, Ezoic, Mediavine or Raptive), with no other income such as product sales, subscriptions or sponsors.

Why it matters

Affiliate programs and ad networks change rates and rules on their own schedule. Amazon Associates has cut category commissions before.

An older site with one network has at least survived a year of its changes; a young one has not.

A worked example

Asking price: $15,000

What the red-flag checker returns: payback of 23.1 months on average monthly profit, and this flag:

  1. Medium Only income source on a young site: Amazon Associates

All revenue depends on one affiliate program or ad network, on a site with less than a year of history. A rate cut, a policy change or a closed account would stop it.

Ask: Can you show payouts from Amazon Associates month by month, any policy warnings, and what other income you have tested?

The same example also raises: Depends on Amazon, Organic search is about 85% of traffic, Very high margin (93%), About 7 months of history, No connected data source mentioned.
